Project Example — Illustrative Scenario
Silt Fence & BMP Installation on an Active Construction Site
This is a representative example illustrating the type of work LES performs, not documentation of a specific completed project. Real, photo-documented case studies will replace these examples as current work is completed.
Service Area
Central Florida residential development site
Site Condition
A multi-acre residential subdivision in active mass grading, with disturbed soil sloping toward a roadside swale and several storm drain inlets along the site perimeter.
Problem
The site needed full perimeter sediment control installed before grading began, sized to handle sheet flow from the disturbed area without overwhelming the downstream swale or inlets.
Recommended BMPs
- • Contour-following silt fence along the full down-slope perimeter
- • Fabric drop-inlet protection at each storm drain inlet along the perimeter road
- • A stabilized construction entrance at the primary vehicle access point
Work Performed
Silt fence was trenched and backfilled along the perimeter, with J-hook returns at low points to prevent end-around bypass. Inlet protection was sized to each structure's drainage area, and a geotextile-based construction entrance was installed at the site's main access point.
Outcome
The site passed its initial SWPPP compliance inspection with no corrective action items, and perimeter controls held through several rain events during the mass grading phase.
Before / during / after photos will be added here once a matching real project is documented.
