Project Example — Illustrative Scenario
Erosion Repair & Slope Stabilization After a Heavy Rain Event
This is a representative example illustrating the type of work LES performs, not documentation of a specific completed project. Real, photo-documented case studies will replace these examples as current work is completed.
Service Area
Central Florida site with cut/fill slopes
Site Condition
A graded cut slope on a commercial site had been seeded but not yet established when a heavy summer storm produced significant sheet flow.
The Challenge
Rill erosion had formed across the slope face, and sediment had migrated into a sediment trap at the base, reducing its remaining capacity.
The Strategy
- • Regrading of rilled areas before reapplying stabilization
- • Erosion control blanket anchored across the slope face
- • Sediment trap cleanout to restore design capacity
Work Performed
Eroded channels were regraded and backfilled, erosion control blanket was installed and anchored per the slope's grade, and the sediment trap was cleaned out and inspected for outlet blockage.
Value Created
The slope held through subsequent storm events without further rilling, and the sediment trap returned to full design capacity.
Risk If Ignored
Left unaddressed, the rilled channels would have deepened with each subsequent storm, and the reduced sediment trap capacity would have allowed sediment to pass downstream — turning a repair job into a larger, more visible discharge problem.
Documentation Delivered
Photos of the rilled slope before regrading, the anchored blanket installation, and the cleaned-out sediment trap, plus a written note on remaining capacity restored for the SWPPP file.
